Why Match Business Solutions Clients engage Match Business Solutions when they require experienced judgement, independent thinking and accountability for outcomes — not theoretical advice.

Gary has led multidisciplinary teams in industrial manufacturing and construction-related environments, often through periods of disruption, restructuring or growth. His experience spans strategy development, operational leadership, commercial negotiations, capital investment decisions and organisational change.

He has a strong track record of:

  • Developing and executing growth strategies
  • Improving earnings quality and long-term sustainability
  • Leading geographic expansion into sub-Saharan Africa
  • Modernising operations through world-class technology investment
  • Resolving complex commercial and legal matters through negotiation
  • Building capable leadership teams and performance-driven cultures

He is comfortable operating at board, executive and operational levels and works closely with a wide range of stakeholders.

Gary currently serves as an Independent Director of the Central Gauteng Cricket Board, contributing to strategic oversight, ethical governance and long-term sustainability. He chairs board subcommittees for Social, Ethics & Transformation and Marketing & Commercial, and leads the board-mandated project to redevelop and modernise the Wanderers Precinct. He has also completed executive governance training through the Institute of Directors.

This governance perspective informs his advisory work, particularly where shareholder, board and executive considerations intersect.

Strategy is fundamentally about creating a shared vision — one that becomes the thread that binds decisions made today to the future an organisation seeks to create.

Effective strategy connects stakeholders, shapes values and behaviours, and establishes clear accountability to ourselves and to each other. It requires an informed understanding of the external environment, a deep appreciation of the organisation’s own DNA, and honest choices about where and how to compete.

At its best, strategy enables organisations not only to perform, but to thrive — creating environments where people are aligned, engaged and able to enjoy what they do.

Delivery is inseparable from strategy. Clear objectives, supported by meaningful performance agreements, are essential to translating intent into results.

Engagements begin with understanding the organisation’s specific context and requirements. Work may involve one-on-one engagement with a business owner or executive, or direct engagement with leadership teams, conducted face-to-face or remotely.

My leadership style is participative, supportive and enabling. I work alongside leaders to co-create solutions rather than impose them, drawing on experience, structured thinking and practical execution insight.

Growth and development — of organisations and of people — are integral to my work. Training, mentoring and coaching form part of building sustainable capability and confidence.
